How to get PUC Certificate

PUC (Pollution Under Control) certificate is a mandatory document required for all motor vehicles to certify that they meet the emission standards set by the government. It is issued after a vehicle passes an emission test at a designated PUC center.

To get a PUC certificate, you need to take your vehicle to a nearby PUC center. The following are the steps to get a PUC certificate:

  1. Locate a PUC center near you: You can search for a PUC center near you online or ask your mechanic for the location of the nearest center.

  2. Drive your vehicle to the PUC center: Take your vehicle to the PUC center and get in line for the test.

  3. Get the emission test done: The PUC center will conduct an emission test on your vehicle using a device that measures the pollutants in the exhaust gases.

  4. Pay the fee: After the test, you will be required to pay a fee to obtain the PUC certificate.

  5. Receive the PUC certificate: If your vehicle passes the emission test, the PUC center will issue a certificate with a validity of six months. Keep this certificate in your vehicle at all times.

Note: Some states also offer online PUC certificate renewal, where you can renew your certificate by uploading a scanned copy of the previous certificate and paying the renewal fee online.
